...And Enron, Global Crossing, Merrill Lynch, Tyco, ImClone, etc., etc, etc. Hah, also, to all those super-smart dot com business leaders who did their darndest to kill the wonderfulness of this media (Win-Win-Win), and failed miserably —you, after all, are reading this online, yes?

What the I-win-you-loose school of business principals has done is shown that investing in development of a mine might not be the same as buying their Brooklyn Bridge. We are no longer the “bad guys;” the excuse for regulators to regulate. Today the truth is investors may have been more at risk by listening to the Wizards of Oz, hidden behind a curtain of smoke and mirrors. Professionals touting stocks who in the past have pointed a finger at mine promoters as stealing from “widows and orphans,” had better realize that walking away with retirement funds, is three fingers pointing right back at them.

Mining also has for a number of years been hampered in investors' eyes by the fact that it is one of man's oldest industrial professions, somewhat sleezy, and out of date. Prospectors are characterized as old geezers with donkeys.     There used to be such a thing as grubstake agreements to fund making individual Stage-One finds. But why even bother staking a claim today? Unless a deposit has outstanding credentials that can be proven by bootstrap financing, Stage-Three funding means transferring control to CPAs, SEC attorneys, and self-serving stockbrokers, for major funding.
